Is anyone else sick to their stomach?

I am presently limited to @ 5 channels on my TV, a situation that while challenging for my unparalleled skills of procrastination, has introduced me to the wonderful world on C-Span and PBS. Over the course of the past week I found myself watching the Sotomayor hearings for extended periods.....which means about 15 minute sessions. Anyway, I confess that I have not done enough research on Ms. Sotomayor to really develop an opinion on her. However, one cannot deny that her amazing rise from poverty to federal court judge represents all that is good about our country. That being said, I am sickened by the members of Congress interviewing her. You have the ass-kissing left asking her at what she prefers more, turning wine into water or giving the blind their sight back. And then on the right you have men setting new records for hypocrisy and contradiction. Mr. Graham of South Carolina, when you ask someone a question it is polite to let them get more than two words out of their mouth before you give your opinion of what is right and what is wrong. I understand he has an impressive resume and a law degree to boot, but what a jerk. "Ms. Sotomayor, it is important that you do not put your personal feelings forward when making a decision on the bench.....on that note.....what are your thoughts on abortion?" Does anybody else see the contradiction in this? Her feelings on abortion are irrelevant in my opinion......abortion is legal in this country!

Oh yeah, love him or hate him Franken is the funniest person on the Hill. Asking Sotomayor if she could name the episode in which Perry Mason lost the case.....hysterical.

I'm just commenting so you know someone is reading this. I know nothing of these proceedings and will most likely remain ignorant because delving even superficially into politics is likely to lead me to homicide.

Hey, i am reading this blog, too. But it has been awhile, hasn't it? Drumski, I completely agree with you about this congressional charade, which is all the more pointless given the Democrat majority. These people give me the creeps. I am sure that there must be some genuine public servants in Congress, but they all seem like self-promoting, egomaniacal, power-hungry, bottom-dwelling, bloviating gasbags to me.
